🥩 Recipe: Classic Pan-Fried Beef Liver with Onions
Ingredients:
- 1 lb H+J Premium Beef Liver, thawed and sliced
- 2 medium yellow onions, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- ½ cup milk (for soaking)
- Salt & black pepper to taste
- Optional: Fresh parsley or a splash of balsamic for garnish
Instructions:

Soak the liver (optional but recommended):
Place liver slices in a bowl with milk and let soak for 30–60 minutes. This mellows out the strong flavor and enhances tenderness. -
Prep the onions:
In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 1 tbsp butter with 1 tbsp olive oil. Add onions and cook slowly, stirring occasionally, until golden and caramelized (about 15–20 minutes). Remove and set aside. -
Cook the liver:
Drain and pat the liver dry. Season with salt and pepper. In the same skillet, add remaining butter and turn the heat to medium-high. Sear liver for 2–3 minutes per side—do not overcook, or it will turn tough. -
Serve:
Plate with caramelized onions on top. Garnish if desired and serve hot with mashed potatoes, sautéed greens, or a side of crusty bread.

We have three options available:
- At checkout you can choose three pickup locations: Two locations in Richland and one at the farm in Saluda. We will set up a time once order is placed.
- At checkout choose standard mail delivery. We are still trying to get shipping cost down.
- At checkout chose local delivery. We will hand deliver it to you. Again we will contact you about best times. There is no fee when an order is over x amount it's set up on a sliding scale. Farther away you are the more the minimum purchase is for free delivery but no matter the purchase amount we will deliver. Small purchases will have a fee.
