Our Hereford Cube Steak is a hardworking cut with old-school charm—tenderized from lean, flavorful Hereford beef and ready to deliver that stick-to-your-ribs satisfaction. Whether you’re firing up a cast iron skillet or going low and slow in the oven, this is the cut that turns humble ingredients into something unforgettable.
Raised on our family-run ranch, H+J Hereford beef is known for its balanced flavor, firm texture, and real-deal beefiness—no fluff, no filler. Our cube steak is pre-tenderized for convenience and ready to soak up marinades, gravy, or whatever your recipe calls for.
What is it?
Cube steak is a cut from the round or sirloin, mechanically tenderized to give it that signature texture and quick-cooking versatility. Great for frying, braising, or sandwiching between two slices of white bread with a little mayo and pickles (don’t knock it ‘til you try it).

Recipe: Classic Country Fried Cube Steak with Gravy
Serves 4
Ingredients:
- 4 H+J Hereford Cube Steaks
- 1 cup flour
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- Salt & pepper to taste
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup milk
- Oil for frying
Gravy:
- 2 tbsp pan drippings
- 2 tbsp flour
- 1.5 cups milk
- Salt & pepper to taste
Instructions:
- In one bowl, whisk eggs and milk. In another, combine flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Dredge each cube steak in flour, dip in egg wash, then dredge in flour again.
- Heat about 1/4 inch of oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry steaks 3–4 minutes per side until golden and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- For gravy, drain most of the oil, leaving 2 tablespoons of drippings in the pan. Stir in flour and cook 1 minute. Slowly whisk in milk and cook until thickened. Season to taste.
- Pour gravy over steaks and serve with mashed potatoes or biscuits.

We have three options available:
- At checkout you can choose three pickup locations: Two locations in Richland and one at the farm in Saluda. We will set up a time once order is placed.
- At checkout choose standard mail delivery. We are still trying to get shipping cost down.
- At checkout chose local delivery. We will hand deliver it to you. Again we will contact you about best times. There is no fee when an order is over x amount it's set up on a sliding scale. Farther away you are the more the minimum purchase is for free delivery but no matter the purchase amount we will deliver. Small purchases will have a fee.
