Our Hereford Cube Steak is a hardworking cut with old-school charm—tenderized from lean, flavorful Hereford beef and ready to deliver that stick-to-your-ribs satisfaction. Whether you’re firing up a cast iron skillet or going low and slow in the oven, this is the cut that turns humble ingredients into something unforgettable.


Raised on our family-run ranch, H+J Hereford beef is known for its balanced flavor, firm texture, and real-deal beefiness—no fluff, no filler. Our cube steak is pre-tenderized for convenience and ready to soak up marinades, gravy, or whatever your recipe calls for.


What is it?

Cube steak is a cut from the round or sirloin, mechanically tenderized to give it that signature texture and quick-cooking versatility. Great for frying, braising, or sandwiching between two slices of white bread with a little mayo and pickles (don’t knock it ‘til you try it).

Recipe: Classic Country Fried Cube Steak with Gravy

Serves 4


Ingredients:


  • 4 H+J Hereford Cube Steaks
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • Oil for frying



Gravy:


  • 2 tbsp pan drippings
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1.5 cups milk
  • Salt & pepper to taste



Instructions:


  1. In one bowl, whisk eggs and milk. In another, combine flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Dredge each cube steak in flour, dip in egg wash, then dredge in flour again.
  3. Heat about 1/4 inch of oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry steaks 3–4 minutes per side until golden and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  4. For gravy, drain most of the oil, leaving 2 tablespoons of drippings in the pan. Stir in flour and cook 1 minute. Slowly whisk in milk and cook until thickened. Season to taste.
  5. Pour gravy over steaks and serve with mashed potatoes or biscuits.

We have three options available:

  1. At checkout you can choose three pickup locations: Two locations in Richland and one at the farm in Saluda. We will set up a time once order is placed.
  2. At checkout choose standard mail delivery. We are still trying to get shipping cost down.
  3. At checkout chose local delivery. We will hand deliver it to you. Again we will contact you about best times. There is no fee when an order is over x amount it's set up on a sliding scale. Farther away you are the more the minimum purchase is for free delivery but no matter the purchase amount we will deliver. Small purchases will have a fee.
